Every adoptive family is required to complete an adoption home study. This is an extensive report that includes background information on the family as well as medical information and background checks. This process can take a few weeks and can begin as quickly as possible. It can be an overwhelming process but we recommend that you take your time and work at your pace. We are here to help make the process as stress-free as possible.
The home study for an embryo or special needs adoption follows the same guidelines as a domestic home study.
After your child has been placed in your home, a Caseworker from Hope for Adoption will visit you and your child in your home. Post placement reports will indicate how well you are bonding to with each other. We will also evaluate and assess your child’s adjustment and developmental milestones. Be prepared to give dates of doctor’s visits as well as weight and height at each visit and any concerns noted. The number and frequency of the visits will be determined by your placing agency. Most agencies require 2 to 3 visits. The cost of each visit is $250. We will send an original copy of the completed report to you and your placing agency.
